• “It’s a privilege to be able to bear witness to someone’s story when they may not have had the chance to tell it before”

(She/her/hers)

In therapy, people have the opportunity to be their most authentic selves, they get to fully open up about the hardships, life transitions, trauma, about all those irrational thoughts and chaos that they may be living in.

I get to be the sounding board; I have the privilege of getting to listen and help sort out how you want your future look. I want to help support you in creating the best version of yourself and then celebrate those successes. I value authenticity, empathy, compassion, and humor.

My purpose is that this comes across in my practice, so you feel connected and valued while we work together.

I come from the belief that we are always doing our best in most situations especially in times of hardship or chaos. That being said, I think we are able to learn and grow in how we face difficult situations. I believe that people are affected by many aspects of their world including family, friends, environment, past experiences, etc.

I try to take all aspects of one’s system into account when helping one develop insight or find solutions that can create a happier future.

Background

I received my bachelor’s degree in psychology with a minor in addiction and recovery studies. During this time, I held jobs where I fell in love with making connections with others and helping support individuals through difficult life journeys. I went on to receive my master’s degree in social work which has shaped how I connect with others and aspire to help others see their worth and value. Working in substance use, mental health and eating disorder treatment facilities, I saw that no one ended up in these situations by accident. I believe the way we feel in and about our bodies is key in our physical and mental health. My approach to health and self worth is Intuitive Eating informed and a Health At Every Size® provider. I use both of the concepts to help individuals reconnect with their body and have a healthier relationship with food.

I work with people age 14 and older and have found my passion in working especially with teens and young adults who are facing difficult life transitions, co-occurring mental illness, and low self-esteem or self-worth. Through working at many different levels of care such as inpatient, outpatient, and individual therapy, I feel I have a grasp on what makes the most impact during times of distress. I know often times in young adulthood and teen years life can feel very isolating and parents can feel at a loss for their child, I hope to offer some collaboration and understanding for everyone in therapy.

My specialities include supporting adults, young adults, and teens through anxiety, depression, life transitions, substance abuse, counseling for low self-esteem, poor body image, dieting and disordered eating.

FAQ

  • Intuitive Eating is an evidence-based practice that focuses on learning to nurture your body through listening to your hunger cues, trusting your body, and rejecting diet culture. I use intuitive eating concepts to challenge the way we feel we should nourish our body and instead reconnect with our bodies inherent needs and wants.

  • Weight inclusivity is the acceptance that all bodies come in many different shapes and sizes, ones inherent worth should not be placed on their body size. This concept acknowledges that there is weight stigma and bias toward individuals in a larger body. My goal is to create safe space where you can explore discrimination, health, wellness, and movement that is right for your body.

I am currently an ASDAH approved provider.

  • Acceptance and Commitment therapy uses acceptance as a tool to stay present with emotions and move through them rather than getting stuck in negative and judgmental thought cycles. This type of therapy also focuses on helping one connect with their values and live a life that is meaningful and purposeful.
